Dear Callie,

Why do your living room travels always take you to the cords in the most awkward location in the room?

How can these boring old cords be so much more entertaining than all these fun toys?

I guess we'll never know.

My Valentines

We kept it simple this year for Valentine's Day. We spent our evening cooking dinner together (our usual--Lasagna, salad, and garlic bread with the addition of a yummy Brownie Mallow dessert). We then enjoyed our dinner, watched a movie, did some cutesy Valentines-ish stuff, and Jason pampered me with a back and foot massage.

Play Date with Kaden

My friend Katie and her son Kaden came over for a play date (yes, I think it's cool that we have the same name. We also both have older sisters named Melissa, husbands whose names start with the letter "J", and child relatives named Kaden). Kaden is a couple months older than Callie. He can crawl and say "dada" (and knows who Dada is). Callie was fascinated just watching him. Kaden liked to grab Callie's hands and face. We had a great time together

In Callie's adventures scooting/rolling around the room, she got herself trapped between the couch and table. I thought it was pretty funny, but she didn't think so.

Snow Days

We had about 5 snow days between two weeks (already mentioned) and here are some pictures of our Texas snow and Jason's home workplace.

The canal behind my parents' house froze over! The ducks congregated in the unfrozen part of the canal.

Fun with Grandma

My mom came to visit for a couple weeks to help us get settled into their home, see Callie, and keep me company. We had a great time together! We shopped, played Wii (especially Just Dance--I am so uncoordinated with my feet, but it's a lot of fun), watched HGTV and other shows, played with Callie, and spent time with Andrea, Ryan, and the kids. I regret to say I was negligent with picture taking, but she'll be back in 6 weeks for our family reunion so I'll have to make up for it then.

Tuesday morning, we woke up with snow/ice and freezing temperatures. Jason was told not to go in to work and we were glad because let's face it--for the most part, Texans don't know how to drive in snow/ice. Typically, when you get these ice storms in Texas it melts during the day, but it is Friday morning and we are still stuck inside. In fact, we woke up to a blanket of snow this morning (and it's still snowing). Jason has been able to work from home this week. It's been fun having him here. Yesterday, the roads were improved so my mom and I braved the cold and the roads to get out of the house for a few hours.

It's supposed to warm up above freezing this weekend, but then it's supposed to get cold and snowy again. I was supposed to be escaping winter weather by coming to Texas!!! But sitting inside instead of having to drive or walk in it isn't too bad.
