An Extra Week

Well, my doctor added another week of bedrest to lessen the chance of the baby needing to stay in the NICU if she comes early. I know that for having been on bedrest and having internet I have not been posting very much lately, but I don't really have the laptop very often since Jason needs it for school and CPA exam studying.

What Jason's been up to: Speaking of the CPA exam, not only did Jason pass his first exam despite everything going on and his added stresses and responsibilities, but he got an awesome score! We were sooo excited and relieved. He takes his next test at the beginning of April. It is amazing to me how long he can study. He'll be at school and work all day long, come home and take a short break for dinner, and then study until 10:00 or 11:00 at night. I couldn't do that.

What I've been up to: So other than finishing that crocheted baby blanket, I have also crocheted a hat, sewed a diaper bag, and made a hydrangea-looking wreath (with one more to go). I have also played many games with my mom and sister Andrea on my Mom's Touch iPod (thanks for entertaining me, you two!) and I have watched lots of episodes of Bones. I finally added pictures and memorabilia to Callie's baby book, I researched and narrowed down a list of apartment complexes and units to chose from in Dallas, and I've even done some indexing (recording information from documents for family history such as war draft registrations and birth/death records). I am quite sick of bedrest, but the end is in sight! Just another week and a half.

What Callie has been up to: Callie has gone through some ups and downs during this time. She's learned lots of things like how to walk down the stairs unassisted, how to reach new heights (literally), how to kick a ball, and she her vocabulary just keeps growing. On the other hand, she has gone through many different emotions and phases. At times she only wants Mommy to do things and has screamed and cried when other people tried to take care of her. Other times, she didn't want anything to do with Mommy and she went through a phase of screaming every time she was brought home, not wanting to hug, kiss, or see Mommy. She's had a few colds and a tooth that took forever to come, both of which contributed to the upset of her sleeping routine. She's back to taking good naps (most days) and only wakes up once or twice in the night now. She also went through times of not wanting to eat much and being super picky about what she would eat. She has become obsessed with things that provide security and pacification (bottle, paci, blankie). I know it's normal for kids to go through phases like these, but they seem to have been exaggerated with this whole bedrest thing. I guess she's probably learning to be flexible and more independent. My sisters assure me that she won't be permanently ruined and that I'll be able to re-establish normalcy and routine once this is all over.

Needless to say, I have a whole list of things I'm excited to do in a week and a half (while of course taking it easy and resting as much as possible--don't kill me Andrea), which mostly involve doing things away from home like seeing The Hunger Games (!!!!), going to one more BYU Philharmonic concert, and maybe even venturing out to do some shopping.

Here goes 11 more days!

Hi Katie! Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. I've been a little busy :o) Thank you for your kind words. That was very sweet of you. Thanks for checking out my blog, too! I love yours. You guys are too cute!

Speaking from experience...STAY. IN. BED!!! There is NOTHING worth doing that will risk your baby coming early! I guess you are going to have your baby any day now. I wish you well and hope that you will have a great delivery without any complications.

Be sure to post your newborn pics as soon as you can. I'll be looking for them. I don't even know you and I'm so excited for you!!! Take care and congratulations :o)
